GENERAL:
When attending CSAT classes in the future, please have:
· Electronic Ears
· Tourniquet
· Thumb drive
The reasoning behind the Electronic Ears is simple. We want you to hear range commands on the line and during scenarios. Input can be made without shouting.
As for Tourniquets, I watch many a person who have one on their gear, not use it as they don’t want to remove it from the pouch or the plastic. If your tourniquet is so fragile that it cannot be used for training, you need to buy a different one. You should have training tourniquets as well. If you need one, the Pro Shop will happily sell you one.
Finally, bring a thumb drive to collect class information and handouts.

BARRACKS
While the barracks have saved many students money in the past, I must, unfortunately, raise the rent. To stay there for a two- or three-day class, it is $100 extra to class tuition. Power, water, AC/Heat have all gone up, as well as maintenance and maintenance contracts. Send any complaints to Joe Biden, PODUS. Also, if you are a current LEO paying on your own dime, the barracks increase does not apply to you. This will take place in the Fall.
CURRENT STATE OF LE-THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
We will start with the Ugly first and then leave on a positive note.
Ugly
Ugly in a word, Uvalde. A little over 22 years since the Columbine massacre, Uvalde took place. What did LE learn from Columbine? Absolutely nothing. All the “free” paintball LE Training from places like ALERRT did not help. Beards did not help. Ink did not help. Red Dot Sights on pistols did not help. Patrol Rifles did not help. Failure was handed out like welfare checks that day.
Bad
The bad continues.
Just now the Chief responsible for the cluster f### in Uvalde has been indicted. I guess I should be happy, but not two years later. It must be election time in Texas.
Few were held accountable and few were fired. Texas Leadership is like an officer directing traffic at an accident. “Nothing to see here; keep moving.” Government representatives continue to go to ass clowns for training advice. The same ones that brought you Uvalde.
Back door deals to get ALERRT as the stand-alone training in the state of Texas took place during the last legislative session. Unfortunately, LE is doing fellow LEs a disservice by paying LE Instructors big money to teach substandard training. When asked on a break, instructors confide that they do not use the system at their home agency.
The Good
Police and Sheriff leadership is starting to fight back legally against the crooked, sole source training mandate awarded ALERRT. While forced to endure the pathetic state training requirements, they are wading through the legal system and challenging it. Good for them.
If you are a lower-ranking officer in your department, ask for live fire training time and not beard grooming kits, ink, or Red Dot Sights. The Uvalde responders could have had all the beards, Ink and Red Dot Sights in existence and it would not have mattered. They needed Training, Guts, and an attitude that a Child’s life is more important than their own.
Great Law Enforcement Officers of all ranks are still out there fighting the good fight. Uvalde tarnished the entire profession. Keep making a difference. Require admins to push solid training. If your higher will not make the difference, you make the difference.

We have added a Tactical Knife Class 31 Aug-1 Sept and will be taught by Coy Harry.

We had some invasive China Berry Trees bordering the old SH that needed to come down. Brad, Coy and I made short work of them. While shady, they are a useless tree that tends to fall over and break off at the wrong time. They will make good mulch.
