GENERAL:
GOING GREEN
In the future, students need to bring a Thumb Drive of 64G or larger to class to download the class information. Instead of wasting money/time and resources on DVDs and cases, I will have a multi-port USB attached to the classroom or shop computer that allows students to do a quick transfer to their USB.
GENERAL
The United States is backsliding in its position of leading the free world. We are being laughed at and mocked by lesser nations. This is because we lack the will to enforce the personal and professional standards we verbally promote. We have not the will and strength of character to live or enforce the values of our forefathers.
WE are no longer a rule of law, but a rule of what party is in charge. Accountability is non-existent at the highest levels of our government.
The decline in America can be attributed to many causes:
Greed
Apathy
Laziness
Ego and Arrogance
Affirmative Action
Accountability
Pick one. We have as a nation, put our weakest leaders forward and this has been aided by our media who have sold their souls for power and profit.
Our Colleges and Schools have been infiltrated by the left and school administrators and leaders have allowed this because of the non-confrontational ideals embraced by society.
No longer do ideals of freedom and opportunity dominate the central thought process of our schools and the average American. But rather, imaginary oppression and victimization. Those self-absorbed “victims” or Democrats are weak-minded individuals who cannot rule or improve themselves, but would rather rule and dominate others as a way to ignore their own deficiencies.
One only looks as far as Hitler and his freak show of the upper Nazis party. Preaching idealism all the while doing the opposite and being the opposite. Constantly attacking their opponents in the political field until they were no more. They won over the military and took over the police.
Our leftists are trying to destroy our military and marginalize our police for control. They lack an enforcement arm or mechanism to implement their radical agendas. But they are trying.
Liberal City Councils try to establish “Cultural Positions” in the City Governments. Their aim is to establish control over our Police Departments. This strategy comes from our colleges and the liberal left. When you cannot control, appoint a Czar, a move out of the Obama playbook. This is what Obama did to many Federal Agencies to exert control over them and to purge any conservatives and promote allegiance to the left.
Another problem I see with our America is the “Churchers,” as I affectionately refer to them. I joke that we have more Churches in town than Donut Shops. The problem is our Churches are independent empires that do not work well with others. Talk about an arrogant class of people who are so opinionated on how God should be worshiped. This group always amazes me in their aloofness.
We see and hear of the underground Christian Churches and their flocks that were exterminated in Afghanistan, but few pay attention. If the Jewish people did not pull their own security, they would cease to exist.
How you as a Vet can re-channel your passion and energy:
Once many veterans retire, they say, wow, this is it and now I have made it. They get too comfortable in life, get lazy and forget to give back. Yes, they stop doing PT and just engage in all the fun stuff they can absorb.
The reality is that you now have a perfect opportunity to give back and reshape the country in a manner as or more significant than with your military service. You can get on City Councils, State and Local School Boards, and many other positions that Left has infiltrated resulting in a “dumbed down” general populace to include our kids.
The attitude of “fuck it,” I am done and screw everybody and I am going to have fun is a self-serving attitude that will lead to the downfall of our nation. Yes, enjoy yourself and have fun, but give back. Either that or you become another “taker,” that which you have learned to despise.
Capitalism gives you choices in how well you live and how far you go in life.
In Communism, Socialism, Fascism, the governments tell you how you live and how far you go in life.
Reference our Southern Border
The current administration is trying to pollute our country with undocumented and unvaccinated illegal immigrants.
Our tax dollars are being used to move them around, house them, feed them, and this is a drain on our economy. Further, they are trying to sneak in more voters. This is Treason at the highest levels.
TEXAS
LTC Retired Allen West came to Nachoville and gave a speech and answered questions. I was able to ask a few questions myself.
He is Pro-Protecting Texas and 2A. He is conservative and made the point that if Texas Falls, America Falls. I told him to bring some of his LTC skills to the job, but not reflective belts (Army Joke).
He will get my vote for governor in spite of him having plastic sights on his Glock, doing crunches for PT and throwing the “Army Strong” slogan at me (I became noxious and disoriented for a second or two).
As for our current Governor, he is an election-time politician. Abbott is a good guy but is only taking action to protect the state after the dam has burst. Governor Abbott had too many chances to do the right thing pre-COVID and has failed to protect the state on the border and from the Federal Government.
OFFICER SAFETY
Second time in 3 years a SWAT guy has had an ND when slinging a rifle from front to back. This one was a “show stopper”. They claim the weapon was on safe, which may or may not be true.
In short, don’t put an AR on your back unless it is unloaded. Gear can sweep a safety and activate a trigger. I had an active service member come through my Instructor Course a year or two ago and he had one leg. On an operation, he slung the rifle to his back, bent down to pick up a litter and discharged a green-tip round through his leg.
We promote a bungee cord on the left side of our gear to secure the rifle when not in use. I will likely do a safety video on it this next week and leave it on the open site as this type of injury continues to happen.
The problem I have is that SWAT guys will teach Patrol this and I want everyone to be safe when doing their jobs.
CIVILIAN COURSE UPDATE
The Long-Range Hunter course, Tac Pistol Medical and the Red Dot Pistol Class will still be available in the future, but will gear to a low number of private type courses. Let me know if you are interested and we will put it on the books with no less than 4-6 students.
COY’S CORNER (H2H-Hand to Hand)
Expanding your tactical awareness
Many of us have trained in some form of combative system for some length of time. The longer you train the more confident you become dealing with a single threat in close quarters. However, many of us need to expand our tactical awareness. We need to expand our awareness to others who may mean us harm while we are dealing with an immediate threat.
How do we do this? The answer is first understanding that anytime you get into a physical confrontation there is an opportunity for anyone around to get a lick in. I won’t get into the psychology behind people taking cheap shots, it is complex and irrelevant. Knowing that you are vulnerable is enough.
Second, we need to add awareness to our training. Setting up scenarios with multiple people or while sparring suddenly have a second opponent jump in at the most inopportune time is a good, controlled way to do this.
In my home system, we have a drill called “Circle of Death.” In this drill, an individual stands surrounded by other members of the class who each have secretly been given a number by the instructor. The instructor will then begin the drill by calling out a number and the person whose number has been called gets to decide when to attack. The student in the center must try and pick out who it will be and orient themselves. Once the attack has begun the person in the center must neutralize the threat quickly. The instructor will decide when the “fight” is over. This is repeated multiple times or until the person in the middle can no longer go on.
Once this version of the drill has been carried out the instructor will call multiple numbers, sometimes all at once and sometimes after the initial contact has been made. The variations are infinite. The higher your student’s level of training the more complex you can make the drill. You can introduce hidden weapons, weapon escalation, or give a goal of getting to the door, etc. The person in the middle soon learns you cannot target fixate on a single opponent or be locked into place. Once the second, third or fourth number is called things get hectic. Situational awareness, movement and violence of action are key.
To minimize injuries, it’s a good idea to start the drill at half speed or less with the attackers having a specific initial attack such as a grab, punch/kick, or takedown. Safety gear can be worn as well. The attackers need to honor the shots given at half speed. The speed and intent should be raised incrementally so you minimize injuries. The goal is to have no safety gear full speed full intent attacks from the circle with the person in the middle being able to neutralize the threats without injuring their classmates. Egos need to be checked at the door as they will cause serious issues and ruin the purpose of the drill.
In closing, start thinking about adding a drill that makes people aware of possible multiple opponent situations. You need to discuss the things that are needed to deal with those situations before and after the drill. Have all of those who took part in the drill discuss the positives and negatives. This helps all.

We have a limited amount of ammo that can be purchased for classes. It was purchased at the current higher prices, so expect it if you need some.
LE TRAINING
The Tac Pistol or Rifle and Medical classes will be medical technical skills to stop the bleeding and stabilize the patient.
RANGES
The ground has hardened up after days of sunshine and heat. Spraying, mowing and bush hogging are in order.

These are my go-to lights and something to think about as it will be getting darker earlier.
The Fenix LD30 is a great light and is a flood. The head will get hot rapidly. 1600 Lumens
The center light, a Fenix PD35 v3.0 is a new light. It is solid and has a center focused beam instead of a flood. 1700 Lumens
The Powertac M5 is solid light and is 1300 Lumens. The knurling on the Powertac is aggressive and will wear your clothing/pocket a bit faster than other lights.
All run on disposable batteries or the 18650.
The Powertac and the Fenix PD35 are both good for striking/impact weapons.
KNIVES/HAWKS
I have been experimenting with inside-the-pocket holsters to stabile fixed blades. So far, it seems to work.
